The Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS), founded in 1951 by Syama Prasad Mukherjee, was the precursor to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The BJS was the political wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and focused on promoting Hindu nationalism and cultural values.
In 1977, during the Emergency imposed by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, the BJS merged with several other opposition parties to form the Janata Party, which went on to defeat the Congress in the 1977 general elections. However, ideological differences within the Janata Party led to its disintegration, and in 1980, the former members of the BJS regrouped to form the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The BJP, under the leadership of figures like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L. K. Advani, grew to become one of India's two major political parties.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist), or CPI(M) was founded in 1964. The origins of the CPI(M) can be traced back to a split within the Communist Party of India (CPI), which was indeed established in 1925.
The split occurred due to ideological differences, particularly over the approach to India's political situation and the role of the Soviet Union. The faction that favored a more radical, independent approach aligned with the Chinese Communist Party's perspectives and formed the CPI(M) in 1964. The CPI(M) has since become one of the leading left-wing parties in India, with a significant influence, particularly in states like West Bengal, Kerala, and Tripura.

C. N. Annadurai, a prominent Tamil leader, did indeed found the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in 1949. Annadurai, originally a member of the Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) led by Periyar E. V. Ramasamy, broke away due to ideological differences, particularly over Periyar's opposition to participating in electoral politics. Annadurai established the DMK with a focus on achieving social justice, opposing caste-based discrimination, and promoting Tamil identity and culture. The DMK quickly gained popularity in Tamil Nadu, becoming a major political force, and in 1967, it became the first party other than the Indian National Congress to win state elections in Tamil Nadu.
